Blessed Thistle, or Cnicus benedictus, is also known as holy thistle and Centaurea benedicta.

Blessed Thistle is an annual, native to the Mediterranean region and western Asia. It is often found growing as a weed in places with poor, rocky soil.

The plants have long, narrow leaves with white veins and spines, and are entirely covered with fine hairs. They have yellow flowers with prickly green flower heads that are similar to those of its cousins artichoke and milk thistle, also in the Asteraceae (sunflower) family.
