Astragalus, or Astragalus membranaceus, is also known as milk vetch, huang qi (Chinese), ogi (Japanese), and hwanggi (Korean).
Astragalus is a perennial plant, growing 10-20 feet in height.
The plants are traditionally harvested after four or five years, with the roots being collected in the spring or fall.
